SRtRC returned to the New Den, working in partnership with Millwall FC and Millwall Community Trust to educate young people from local schools about racism and Hate Crime.
Pupils from Ilderton, Camelot and Bellingdon Primary Schools came to the stadium to take part in workshops exploring racism and stereotypes and finding out more about what Hate Crime is and where it comes from.
The event was part of Millwall FC’s week of activities against racism, including a dedicated Kick It Out fixture.
SRtRC education team members Francis Duku, Manisha Tailor and Kevin George were on hand to lead the workshops about racism and Hate Crime. Millwall Community Trust were able to offer some fun football activities on their indoor facilities for all the young people as the third workshop on the carousel.
In the afternoon, the participants were able to see a screening of the SRtRC film and take part in a Question & Answer session with some special guests, Millwall Lionesses players Ella Rutherford and Leanne Cowan.
Ella and Leanne did a great job answering young people’s questions about racism in football and society, sharing their advice and personal experiences.
SRtRC would like to thank Millwall FC and Millwall Community Trust for their ongoing support for the campaign and educational events. Thank you also to Ella, Leanne and all the young people from Ilderton, Camelot and Bellingdon Primary Schools for attending and participating. We will look forward to working with Millwall FC again soon.
