On Friday 20th October 2017, Show Racism the Red Card will be running their third annual fundraising day ‘Wear Red Day’. Wear Red Day is a national day of action which encourages schools, businesses & individuals to wear red and donate £1 to help facilitate the delivery of anti-racism education for young people & adults throughout England, Scotland & Wales.
The Harrow Branch of the GMB have been busy planning for the day and it sounds like it will be a very successful day. GMB Harrow have decided to hold an international day where they have invited all staff to join them in celebrating Harrows diversity. To celebrate the diversity of Harrow they will be putting on a spread of food from around the globe. They are also asking local businesses to donate food and prizes for the day and so far, they have been very successful.
The event will take place on 18th October (two days before WRD17) in the Members Lounge of the Civic Centre, Harrow, HA1 2XY. On the day lunch from around the globe will be served for £2 per person and they have requested that all staff wear red. Pictures will be taken before and during the event which will then be designed into a 2018 GMB Show Racism the Red Card calendar and sold. As well as a raffle, the GMB will be giving out free goodie-bags on the day and red t-shirts with the slogan ‘Harrow Shows Racism the Red Card’. All proceeds on the day will be donated to Show Racism the Red Card.
Everyone at Show Racism the Red Card would like to thank Harrow GMB for the fantastic support they have shown to the charity and Wear Red Day 2017.
