Show Racism the Red Card were delighted to be support the second year of The Community Cup in Glasgow.
The Community Cup, organised by Police Scotland brings together people with different backgrounds for a day of fun football activities as a way of breaking down barriers and showing communities that there are common interested between them, no matter what their backgrounds.
The competition included teams from Police Scotland, The Crown office and Procurator Fiscal Service, Glasgow Afghan United and Scottish International Youth.
The Community Cup had and added educational element for young police volunteers in the morning who had the opportunity to take part in a Show Racism the Red Card workshop lead by ex Hibernian FC player Mickey Weir. They then took part in a coaching session with Mickey.
Nicola Hay Campaign Manager for Show Racism the Red Card said, “We are delighted to be supporting the Community Cup once again this year. The day is a fantastic way of getting different communities together to interact with one another and highlights similarities between groups rather than negative differences.”
Police Scotland said “Police Scotland are delighted to work in partnership with Show Racism the Red Card and the Crown office and Procurator Fiscal Service. This event provides an excellent opportunity to engage with the black minority ethnic communities whilst challenging all forms of prejudice and discrimination”
