Show Racism the Red Card administrator Shona Chitate-Samuriwo attended this year’s UNISON National Delegate Conference
SRtRC had an exhibition stand on Tuesday and Wednesday, resources included the new 20th anniversary hoodies and t-shirts with the new quote on the back from Nelson Mandela which went down a storm among delegates . The remaining club posters from the English, Scottish and Welsh football leagues were as popular as ever, the England and Wales Euros poster were also a hit.
SRtRC's fringe meeting took place on Wednesday 22nd at 12:45; it was one of the best fringe meetings SRtRC has put on during a conference. It was well attended with delegates, with Unison’s black members group even cutting their meeting short to attend.
The guest speakers on the panel were; Ged Grebby (CEO of SRtRC), Claire Williams (Regional Convenor, Unison Northern), Elizabeth Cameron (UNISON North West), Eric Roberts (senior vice president UNISON), Leroy Rosenior (former West Ham United striker and SRtRC Patron), Stephen Cavalier (CEO Thompsons Solicitors) and Liz Snape (President TUC) chairing the meeting. All guest speakers were well received by the delegates especially the moving personal accounts given by Leroy and Elizabeth, the meeting could have been two hours not one with the amount of questions being asked by the delegates.

Overall the two days spent at the conference were successful for SRtRC with delegates & UNISON members singing the organisation’ praises after the fringe meeting, setting up standing orders and showing an interest in SRtRC’s anti-racism education work in their areas.
