Show Racism the Red Card thanks Dumisani Matsebanane for the wonderful support, time, energy and creativity that he has given to the organisation as a Volunteer
On the 1st of March 2016 the Scottish Team received an email from a passionate human rights activist wanting to do a work placement with us. We were thrilled to hear from Dumisani Matsebanane who is originally from Zimbabwe, and who has made Scotland his home. Dumie completed his work placement with us and excelled at everything he did. We were sad at the thought of losing someone we now considered a vital part of the team. Dumie then asked if he could stay on in a voluntary capacity and we jumped at the opportunity to keep tackling inequality with such a forward thinking individual.
Dumie has contributed his time, energy and talents enthusiastically to help fulfill Show Racism the Red Card’s mission. Dumie has not only provided direct educational input to young people, but also assisted in co-ordinating the annual Creative Competition Awards Ceremony, provided administrative support, as well as being directly involved in the development and collection of research data which informs our education. Overall, Dumie has:
Educated learners about the causes and consequences of racism.
Enhanced the understanding of issues of Equality and Diversity.
Developed activities to challenge racism through Equalities ‘fun and fitness’ sessions.
Promoted involvement as active responsible citizens in an inclusive and diverse society.
Here’s looking at you Dumie, thanks so much for standing with us to create a fairer Scotland for All. We are really grateful you sent us that email.
