Show Racism the Red Card Creative Arts School Competition Awards

This was a day for the young people of Wales and they travelled from all corners of the country to walk down our red carpet amongst Wales’ sport stars and collect their awards at the Marriott Hotel in the capital.

The competition was kindly funded by the National Union of Teachers and open to all schools in Wales. This year was a special one, celebrating its 10th anniversary. Over 7,000 young people took part from 100 schools, competing to win one of our 10 categories such as poster design, poetry and media.

Sporting Stars Luc Jones and Nick Scott (Newport Gwent Dragons), Joe Bearman and Ben John (Ospreys) and Elvis Menayese and Shane Parry (Cardiff City FC) as well as Kevin Courtney (National Union of Teachers Assistant General Secretary) who gave out some exciting prizes (Such as an: ipad, Kindle Fire, shopping vouchers and a trophy).

We would like to congratulate the winners once again!

Quotes:

“The competition provides a great platform to showcase the pupils work towards anti-racism and helps to raise awareness of current societal issues. The standard of entries we have had this year has been very high and the hard work that the pupils have put in to all of our categories entries has been inspiring.”
