Leroy Rosenior and Len McCluskey met to talk all things SRtRC and Unite the Union on Thursday 26th August
“I ask myself the question, and I ask you the question; If not us then who? If not now then when? A stand needs to be made. We need to be proud of our values of inclusivity."
Len McCluskey, General Secretary, Unite the Union
Following on from his speech at our Unite the Union conference meeting, Len McCluskey, the General Secretary of Unite, met SRtRC patron Leroy Rosenior this week for a filmed feature by the union about the campaign.
Unite is producing a series of articles about SRtRC in recognition of the 20th anniversary of the campaign, which commences in January.
The feature includes:
Ø How Show Racism the Red Card started in January 1996 and the changing nature of racism in that time
Ø SRtRC education work and how the campaign engages with unions and their members
Ø How do we fight the rise of immigration myths?
Ø Challenging racism in the workplace, how Unite and SRtRC plan to work together
SRtRC looks forward to seeing the complete interview shortly.
Speaking at the SRtRC fringe meeting at Unite conference 2015, Len spoke of the need to educate about racism and support SRtRC. “I ask myself the question, and I ask you the question; If not us then who? If not now then when? A stand needs to be made. We need to be proud of our values of inclusivity. We need to be proud of our values of Fairness and equality. That’s what Unite stands for, that’s what SRtRC stands for, and together we can make a difference.”
