SRtRC backs calls for Bola and Rafeeq Atanda to be allowed to remain in the UK and encourages others to show their support
"We sincerely hope the Home Office change their mind and allow both Bola and Rafeeq to stay in Gateshead, which is their home and where they belong.”
Ged Grebby, Chief Executive, Show Racism the Red Card
Earlier this week, a mother and son from Bensham, Gateshead were removed from their home and taken to a detention centre in anticipation of deportation to Nigeria on Friday.
Representatives from Rafeeq’s school, Brighton Avenue Primary, have made a passionate plea for Rafeeq to remain; describing him as ‘a delightful little boy, with a huge circle of friends. He is polite, well-mannered and always impeccably well behaved.’ Teachers believe that Rafeeq has made good progress at school and has settled very well.
