Young Killie fans “Show Racism the Red Card” at Rugby Park.
Kilmarnock Football Club hosted a Show Racism the Red Card educational event this season on Wednesday 19th March. The Club were proud to work with educational charity “Show Racism the Red Card (Scotland)” to offer an event to over 90 pupils from Annanhill and Kirkstyle Primary schools which demonstrated that racism is something that neither the club nor the fan-base will accept.
The youngsters spent the day participating in educational workshops promoting anti-racism and hearing the messages of equality and respect with Kilmarnock community coaches on hand to give them a tour of the ground. They also got the opportunity to act as journalists and participate in a “press conference” on racism with members of the Kilmarnock team, local councillors including Provost Jim Todd along with PC Peter Brown of Police Scotland.
Vicki Burns, Campaign Manager with Show Racism the Red Card added “Kilmarnock FC have been great supporters of the campaign over the years. The young people from East Ayrshire we speak to are always very passionate about their support for an anti-racist message. We hope by taking part in Wednesday’s event, they are inspired to back to their schools and communities and keep promoting it.”
