The 10th annual 'Show Racism the Red Card Fortnight of Action' is currently underway in Scotland.
St. Johnstone FC has joined with all other SPFL, (Scottish Professional Football League),clubs in taking a stand against racism and bigotry at their games.
Perth & Kinross Council is supporting St. Johnstone's 'Show Racism the Red Card' initiatives and have arranged for squad posters to be distributed to fans prior to the club’s home match against Motherwell on Sunday 27 October. Posters will also be distributed widely across Perth and Kinross during this period. The local Community Safety Partnership will also join forces with the local UNISON branch to renew their joint sponsorship of the ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ trackside advertising billboard at McDiarmid Park. Community Safety Convener Councillor Douglas Pover said “I am delighted to continue our support of this extremely important piece of work. We have a long-standing relationship with Show Racism the Red Card and their work with the St. Johnstone Community Coaching team continues to successfully inform many members of our community that racism and discrimination is unacceptable. During the last school year for example, we reached a record number of over 1200 primary school pupils with the Red Card work. I am grateful to UNISON for their continued support too.”
