Our third event of the season in Wales saw our Welsh Campaign and education team visit Rodney Parade.
We continued spreading the anti racism message in Newport with this event kicking off a busy week in the area with the County players due to wear our t-shirts on the Saturday against York City FC
Leading the event in the morning session was education workers Chris Stokes and Aimee Jones.
60 pupils from St.Josepths RC Primary and Maindee Primary attended the home of Newport County.
The young people took part in discussions and activities about racism in society and sport, many pupils had some good questions for the education team and had a good understanding of the topic.
Again for this event the pupils had some pre event tasks in preparation for taking on the role of a newspaper reporter at the event, they had to research the topic of racism and come up with their title to their own newspaper.
After watching the SRtRC DVD the pupils had time to re assess the questions they had prepared and Campaign worker Jason Webber introduced a very special panel that included former professional player Steve Jenkins, Former rugby player Nathan Plamer and Newport County 1st team player Ismail Yakubu.
There were some really interesting questions and discussions that took place during the Question and Answer session and 2 prize winners received SRtRC goodie bags along with match tickets for a up coming Newport game.
We would like to thank Newport County for hosting an event and for their continued support to Show Racism the RED Card
The event was covered by the local newspaper the South Wales Argus.
