Gemma Fay is a Scottish female international football goalkeeper. She currently plays in the Scottish Women's Premier League for Celtic, having previously played in the English FA Women's Premier League for Leeds United.
"I am delighted and am honoured to be given the opportunity to become an ambassador for Show Racism the Red Card. The work and education the organisation carries out is vital to ensure that football continues to tackle the issue of racism not just across Scotland and the UK, but the world. Football is a global sport with a global audience, and has a duty to stand up against all forms of prejudice. I am fortunate that I am in a position to help spread that message."
Gemma made her senior Scotland debut against Czech Republic in May 1998 and has since amassed over 140 appearances for the national team.
Show Racism the Red Card is delighted that Gemma has joined Kim Little and Jennifer Beattie as Ambassadors of the campaign in Scotland. It has been a priority for us to engage more women role models as ambassadors to educate young people and society about the dangers of racism and sectarianism, inspiring them to become active citizens safely challenging racism and sectarianism in their own communities and beyond.
We are very excited about our first event with Gemma, Kim and Jennifer ……. Watch this space for more details.
