England’s record holder for outfield caps looks certain to break record following the announcement of the squad for this summer’s European Championships.
Congratulations to Show Racism the Red Card patron and ambassador Rachel Yankey who has been selected for the England squad for the 2013 European Championships in Sweden.
Rachel looks all set to become England’s most capped player ever should she feature in the tournament, having been an almost ever-present since making her debut in 1997.
Rachel lent her support to the Show Racism the Red Card annual Schools Competition this year, and was guest of honour at the awards ceremony which took place at Stamford Bridge back in April.
Rachel joins us for our Countering Contemporary Racism conference at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on Friday when she will deliver a personal testimony on her experiences of racism in football and society.
Also joining Rachel in the squad are Arsenal Ladies players Alex Scott and Jordan Nobbs who took time out last week to Show Racism the Red Card at training with Arsenal.
We wish Rachel and all of the other players a great success in the Championships. Rachel Yankey signs up to Show Racism the Red Card
