Young people visited London Road for an exciting afternoon of educational activities.
Young people from St Thomas More and Matley Primary Schools were invited to the stadium on Wednesday 17th April for a Show Racism the Red Card event. Young people took part in some educational activities, watched Show Racism the Red Card’s latest DVD featuring top footballers and posed questions on racism to their footballing heroes, including current Peterborough players Mark Little and Bobby Olejnik and ex-professional footballers and Show Racism the Red Card educators, Paul Mortimer, Osei Sankofa and Anwar Uddin. The young people who asked the best questions were awarded match tickets to go and see Peterborough play Sheffield Wednesday. The event culminated in a ground tour for the young people who will al lleft with a signed Peterborough United poster.
Sarah Soyei, Manager at Show Racism the Red Card, stated “We are really pleased to be holding this event with Peterborough FC. The club has been a long term supporter of the campaign and today affords us an important opportunity to reach out to local young people to educate them about the dangers of racism; helping them to reject prejudice in their schools and communities. My thanks go out to Phil Adlam and the club for their support in hosting this event."
