We delivered a FAW level 1 football coaching course to participants of the Street Football Wales Project in Newport
We have continued our Social Inclusion work this month delivering a Football Association of Wales level 1 football coaching course in Newport with participants of the Street Football Wales Project.
Campaign Worker Jason Webber and Welsh Football Trust Inclusion officer Mizan Rahman delivered the 2 day course at Play football in Newport.
Participants took part in discussion based presentations and practical activities about youth football and the development of players. The course is aimed at creating leaders and roles models as coaches to work with young people in local clubs and schools.
On the last day the participants had the opportunity to plan and deliver a practical activity and were provided feedback by tutors Jason and Mizan.
A majority of the participants play football in the Street Wales project and all enjoy football as a hobby.
The SRtRC Social Inclusion project works closely with the Welsh Football Trust and the Football Association aiming to provide opportunities for individuals who have not had the support or opportunity to become involved in both playing and coaching football.
Our previous course we delivered in conjunction with the SFW project in Swansea has already seen the impact it has on participants with many of them now active coaching in clubs, schools and community projects.
Jason Webber said “These projects provide a great opportunity to individuals to obtain information on where they can become invovled in coaching and volunteering in the community. The workshops and courses provide information for individuals to learn the required skills to be leaders.
We have seen how our Inclusion work has had a positive impact so far, and are keen to continue to build on our success and work with key partners in Wales further support the BME community and individuals that need that extra support.”
We will be working more closely with the Street Football Wales project along with the Welsh Football Trust and the Football Association of Wales towards Social Inclusion in Wales.
