A full day of anti-racism education for Middlesbrough school pupils at the Riverside
"It has been a brilliant day and we will have to follow this up with work in the School to promote the work”
Teacher from North Ormesby
Middlesbrough FC once again hosted a fantastic Show Racism the Red Card all day event.
Pupils from St Alphonsus’, Sacred Heart and North Ormesby spent the day learning more about the effects of Racism in both football and the community.
The morning consisted of 2 workshops looking at some of the issues surrounding equality and they also were taken on a tour of the Riverside Stadium. After a brief stoppage for lunch they then watched the new Show Racism the Red Card Educational DVD and had the opportunity to ask questions to a distinguished panel including current Middlesbrough star Mustapha Carayol, SRTRC coaches: Gary Bennett, Olivier Bernard, John Anderson, Trevor Benjamin and Shada Khan from Middlesbrough Council.
Middlesbrough FC kindly donated a Signed Pennant to be given as a prize for the best question which was judged to have been “If you heard or were on the receiving end of racist abuse, could you sum up how you would feel in one word?”
All the young people and staff had a really good day and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Many thanks to Middlesbrough FC, Mustapha Carayol and the teachers and pupils for making it a successful event
