The Show Racism the Red Card team delivered an exciting all-day event for 90 Luton youngsters
“It is vital that we do everything possible to extinguish the last vestiges of racism both here and overseas. This means zero tolerance and immediate action whenever and wherever racism rears its ugly head. I give Show Racism the Red Card my total support”

Young people from Warden Hill Juniors, Beechwood and Sacred Heart Primary Schools were invited to Kenilworth Road on Wednesday 14th November to take part in an all-day Show Racism the Red Card event. The young people took part in a carousel of educational workshops during the morning, where they had the opportunity to explore the dangers of stereotyping and how to recognise and respond to racism when it occurs, alongside a ground tour of the stadium organised by the club.
The afternoon was opened by local MP Kelvin Hopkins, who gave an empassioned speech about the importance of rejecting racism and living together in harmony. The young people then watched Show Racism the Red Card’s brand new DVD featuring top footballers and posed questions on racism to a panel which included current Luton Town FC footballers Lathaniel Rowe-Turner, Arnaud Mendy and Matt Robinson and ex-professional footballers Luther Blissett, Osei Sankofa and Paul Mortimer. The young people who asked the best questions were awarded with prizes of Luton Town FC tickets and SRtRC goody bags. All of the young people left with a copy of Show Racism the Red Card’s latest magazine.
Sarah Soyei, Regional Manager of Show Racism the Red Card added “We are really thankful to Luton FC for their support in hosting this event. All young people have a right to grow up without the fear of racism and discrimination. The work that we undertake has the power to make a real difference in the lives of our young people and help to create an environment where everybody feels safe and able to achieve.”
