SRTRC's innovative approach stimulated debate, discussion and raised awareness of Racism and homophobia in work and society. The SRTRC team gave all our Reps food for thought in issues that are so difficult to tackle, our Reps gained so much in the discussion and debate led by Simon and Christian , who brought empathy, humour and experience into their presentation. SRTRC working with schools ™ unions are campaigning together to make us all ensure racism and homophobia have no place in our society.”

The Show Racism the Red Card education team delivered a two hour session to Usdaw Union members on Saturday, at the Village hotel in Cardiff.
Over 160 people attended the workshop with Education Manager Simon Richards and worker Christian Roberts broaching subjects such as what terms are acceptable, what causes racism and what to do if you witness an incident
Show Racism the Red Card were the key speakers at Usdaw’s annual South Wales & West Conference, a major date in the calendar of one of the UK’s biggest unions.The session was very well received by the delegates, who got involved in a number of interactive activities throughout the afternoon.
The union, which boasts half a million members across the UK, asked Show Racism the Red Card to deliver the main session during their 'Learning about equality' day.
Welsh Education Manager Simon Richards said, his was a great event in front of a packed room of motivated and interested individuals. Events like this really help to educate people about racist issues within our community and to help spread the word about the work our charity does’
Other speakers included Vaughan Gething, the Assembly Member for Cardiff South and Penarth, who spoke about his life growing up and the issues he had to overcome.
Saturday marked the first time that Usdaw and the Welsh team had worked together and we hope it is the beginning of a beautiful partnership.
