Show Racism the Red Card have launched two new brand new educational films.
The films come with an accompanying education pack and the resources are designed to educate young people and adults about the damage of homophobia and provide people with a range of information and skills to enable them to effectively challenge homophobia. The project has been funded by the Northern Rock Foundation who wished to utilise Show Racism the Red Card’s skills and experience in producing educational materials to combat prejudice.
“Homophobia: Let’s Tackle it!” features a wide range of top sporting personalities talking about the issues of homophobia. Their powerful interviews have created an emotive and dynamic resource to combat homophobia and homophobic language in society.
“Talking about Homophobia” is a powerful selection of interviews, featuring Hollyoaks’ Kieron Richardson; comedian and author Rhona Cameron, and England rugby star Ben Cohen. They, alongside gay equality campaigners share their experiences of homophobia.
Feedback received on the new resource:
"I found the session to be very informative and the resources (the two films and the education pack) very useful; I have already used some parts of the 'talking about homophobia' film at an event delivered last week aimed at raising employee awareness of barriers faced in the LGBT community.
"I haven't used the education pack yet but like all your other resources I'm sure it's something that will be useful when raising awareness not only of homophobic bullying but in other areas as well.
"My final point is that although your resources are aimed primarily at young people they are easily adapted to allow them to be used across all age ranges.
"Thanks again for a great resource."
