Hartlepool Youngsters help Tackle Racism
School Children from Brougham and Clavering Primary Schools expanded their knowledge of racism and its effects at showcase event in Hartlepool’s Council Chamber.
Year 6 pupils from two of Hartlepool’s primary schools attended a packed afternoon of education on the subject of racism at the Council Chamber in Hartlepool Civic Centre.
The spacious modern council chamber was the perfect setting for an event at which young people had the opportunity to work with Show Racism the Red card’s Education Workers and the ex-professional football players who work with the campaign.
Culminating in a Q&A session, the event was well received by all who attended. This included the elected mayor of Hartlepool, Stuart Drummond.
In addition to SRtRC coaches, Gary Bennett, John Anderson, Trevor Benjamin and Olivier Bernard, the Q&A panel also included Hartlepool Councillor, Stephen Thomas and former Pools stalwart, Keith Nobbs.
The panel signed Hartlepool United FC posters before heading back to their schools to continue their journey of fighting racism.
