Middlesbrough FC Shows Racism the Red Card
100 pupils from the Tees Valley attend a full day of anti-racism education at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium
Pupils from The Avenue Primary School, Easterside Primary School in Middlesbrough and St Cuthbert’s Primary School in Stockton attended an all-day Show Racism the Red Card educational event at the Riverside Stadium. They took part in three different workshops aimed at expanding their knowledge on the issues of racism, as well as an activity based around stereotyping and discrimination. They also watched the Show Racism the Red Card DVD, featuring stars such as Thierry Henry, Ryan Giggs, Samuel Eto’o, and many more.
In the afternoon, there was the chance to ask questions to SRtRC’s team of ex-professional football players and Middlesbrough Councillor, Sajaad Khan.
Everyone who attended the event left with a Middlesbrough poster signed by the panel and a goody bag. Winners of ‘best question’ in the Q&A won a signed Middlesbrough FC football shirt and signed Middlesbrough FC football.
Thanks to Di O’Connell from Middlesbrough Football Club and Shahda Khan from Middlesbrough Cohesion Partnership.
