Councillor Janice Charles calls on others to start backing SRTRC Wales
At our recent Annual Review event, our guest speakers from the Vale of Glamorgan Council addressed the audience and re-iterated the importance of the charity's work. Both Martine Coles and Councillor Janice Charles gave an insight into one of our most productive partnerships, over the past few years, we have visited over 90% of schools in the area and have expanded the work into youth clubs.
The following statement was read out by Councillor Janice Charles
“I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank Show Racism the Red Card and to say how much we value the partnership in the Vale of Glamorgan and the difference it has made to the children’s lives. The people who works for SRTRC are in my view some of the most inspiring, engaging and passionate people that I have met giving a 5 star service where it matters. As the Cabinet lead for Equalities in these very austere times I will do all I can to ensure that the partnerships continues, develops and flourishes.
The work that SRTRC is incredible value for money, dealing with an important social issue by investing in children, their education and development.
Recent events in the football world have, on the one hand shown the progress that has been made on this important issue but also demonstrates that we don’t have to go too far to find problems simmering under the surface.
For this reason it is important that other government agencies show commitment to SRTRC in order the important work of this organisation can continue.
At the end of the day it is all about investing in the future through our children who, I know from personal experience have been truly inspired by the work of this brilliant organisation. I have no doubt that they will carry the important messages for the rest of their lives.
After all it is all about the children, they are the future”.
