Recent events in the world of football have proven that racism hasn’t gone away and there is still much work to be done on the issue, SRtRC can make a significant contribution in the fight against racism.
Gordon Taylor, Chief Executive, PFA.
Show Racism the Red Card is very pleased to announce a new three year funding agreement with the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA).
Historically, the PFA have been an ardent supporter of the important work we that we undertake throughout England and Wales and have worked closely with our campaign and football clubs to ensure we spread our anti-racism message far and wide.
PFA staff and members have regularly supported our events and worked closely with our campaign team to further develop our relationships with football clubs. Their support, advice and guidance has proven invaluable to the success of our educational events at clubs during the last few seasons. The PFA also recently launched their campaign to tackle homophobia in football in our new Red Card magazine.
Gordon Taylor, Bobby Barnes, Simone Pound and Paul Davis have all been inducted into the Show Racism the Red Card Hall of Fame as a reward for the time, effort and energy they have afforded our campaign over the years. Last week, Gordon Taylor presented current PFA Chairman Clarke Carlisle with an SRtRC Hall of Fame award at our Preston North End event as recognition of his work with the campaign.
Gordon Taylor, Chief Executive of the PFA said:
“The PFA has been proud to support Show Racism the Red Card for many years now. SRtRC have worked long and hard to tackle racism in its many guises and have educated many thousands of young people to raise awareness of the dangers of racism. Recent events in the world of football have proven that racism hasn’t gone away and there is still much work to be done on the issue, SRtRC can make a significant contribution in the fight against racism.
I have seen first hand, the fantastic work carried out by SRtRC and am delighted to be able to announce another three year agreement to support this organisation to continue the very important work they undertake in their campaign to rid our society of the scourge of racism.”
Show Racism the Red Card is extremely grateful to all at the PFA for their support and looking forward to working together over the next three years to further spread our message of tolerance and respect.
