The Fortnight of Action in Scotland will come to an end on Monday 31st Ocotber 2011.
This has been a record breaking Fortnight of Action in Scotland, for the first time making a stand against both racism and sectarianism, and having all professional football clubs take many actions across the fortnight, instead of one weekend.
We have had the biggest number of red card actions taking palce across Scotland from professional football clubs actions, to community actions within and outwith our Fortnight of Action Community Grant Scheme.
It is truly inspring to see the Fortnight of Action grow year on year, involving more people, more actions / events than ever before across Scotland. Also, this year we have seen many grassroots football clubs get invovled as they have been inspired by all the actions taking place at professional football clubs and have been keen to replicate the actons at their own games. This is great as it highlights the importance of spreading the message and the improtant role that professional footballers play as role models.
However, it is also great that most of these actions act as a catalyst for further anti-racism and anti-sectarianism events and initiatives througout the year.
For instance, pofessional football clubs, managers and players will participate in anti-racism and anti-sectarianism educational events at their clubs throughout the season, they will also support our Annual Creative Competition by donating prizes and sending players to the awards ceremony to support the campaign and present prizes to the winners.
For community organisations, events taking place throughout the fortnight will mark the beginning of many anti-racism and anti-sectarianism events and intitiatives throughout the year.
Therefore, there are always ways to get invovled and 'Show Racism and Bigotry the Red Card' by participating in, or hosting events promoting equality and respect.
