The 2011 summer edition of RE:SOURCE, a leading magazine for teachers in Scotland, features a two-page spread insightful article on the issue of sectarianism.
The article gives a perspective on the problem from its historical ramifications to the most up to date incidents that have taken place in Scottish football and beyond.
As we all know ‘Scotland’s secret shame’ has been a constant feature on the news in recent times.
The article, as well as presenting an in-depth view on how sectarianism manifests itself, sheds a light on the importance of education as the key element for a successful long-term anti-sectarian strategy.
Show Bigotry the Red Card is really appreciative to have been widely quoted, alongside Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond, and being given the opportunity to talk about the educational work we carry out throughout our communities. Project Manager Elio Ajmone said: `
“From our point of view it is extremely positive to see educational resources taking the issue to heart and this pinpoints the importance of spreading the anti-sectarian message through education.
