Steven Davies has been backed by senior figures in cricket, fellow players and role-models in other sports and beyond after revealing he is gay. You can read the full article from the BBC website here.
Surrey's Davies, 24, is the first active professional cricketer to confirm he is gay. "I'm comfortable with who I am - and happy to say who I am in public," he said. "To speak out is a massive relief for me but if I can just help one person to deal with their sexuality then that's all I care about."
England coach Andy Flower said “Steve’s private life is his own concern. It has absolutely no bearing on his ability to excel at the very highest level in international sport.”
Show Racism the Red Card is currently working on a new film to combat Homophobic bullying. This should be released in time for the new school year and will feature interviews with a range of role-models from sports and other walks of life. Regular updates will appear on the site, so stay tuned!
