The FA have announced their Charity Partners for 2011
Show Racism the Red Card has sadly learnt that we have been unsuccessful in our bid to become “FA Charity of the Year”. We would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us through this application process. We have been overwhelmed by the positive messages we have received. SRtRC gained letters of support from across the footballing world and beyond. Our bid to become FA charity partner even reached parliament, with 94 MP’s signing up to give their support of the campaign!
Although we are very disappointed by the news, we are grateful for everyone who took the time to contact us to back the bid. We need your support now, more than ever.
Chris Freestone, former Chairman of the PFA, highlighted that: “Show Racism the Red Card [carry out] excellent work within schools, clubs and the community which are invaluable in erasing racism from football and society.”
Our Honorary President, Shaka Hislop said:
“I have been involved with Show Racism the Red Card for nearly 15 years now. Over the years I have seen it grow, I have seen the thousands of lives that it has touched, I know exactly how those lives have touched me. As Britain continues to lead the way in race relations and acceptance, Show Racism the Red Card continues to play its part in ensuring the nation's children all smile together.”
As we move into 2011, we look forward to building on all we have achieved in the last 15 years. We will continue with our mission to combat racism in our society and are thankful that we have so many supporters united in this mission.
