One North East category winner, Drew Young, was able to attend St James' Park to meet some of the players pitch-side.
Drew Young of Bridges School, Newcastle upon Tyne collected a special prize this weekend for his winning entry in the national Show Racism the Red Card School Competition 2010. As the One North East category winner, Drew was able to attend St James' Park on Sunday with his Dad to meet some of the players pitch-side before the game against Stoke City FC. They were then able to stay and watch the game as guests of Newcastle United FC.
As well as winning the One North East category, Drew's entry came 2nd in the Special Educational Needs category. Along with all of the winners throughout England in the 2010 competition Drew had already been to Wembley Stadium in April to collect his other prizes. One North East has sponsored a category for entries from North East schools in the Show Racism the Red Card competition for the last three years. The support from One North East has allowed young people from the region to receive extra prizes which have bee very special.
