The first SRtRC youth forum took place at Butetown Youth Pavilion in Cardiff.
The SRtRC youth forum members will form part of the soon to be launched SRtRC Ambassador scheme which rewards people in the community for their work with SRtRC and promotes them as role models and ‘Ambassadors for the future’ for SRtRC with the fight against Racism and Inclusion.
Our Wales Campaign are currently setting up youth forums across Wales in Cardiff, Swansea and Newport involving young people from the community and providing them an opportunity to air their voice to issues that exist in terms of Racism in Society and inclusion in sport within BMAE areas.
Campaign Worker Jason Webber noted: “We have set up group meetings in the heart of the community in areas around Wales in the structure of a forum.
Young people decide how the forum and meetings run and what their objectives are. It is a chance for the young member to inform us of issues that need to be dealt with and give’s them the chance to make a difference where it matters most.
Our new Ambassador scheme provides an incentive to become involved with SRtRC and participants can be rewarded for their commitment and effort which can also help towards their future.
It enables SRtRC to have more of an impact and support for BMAE communities at ground level across the country.’
Further meetings are due to take place across youth clubs and schools in Wales.
