Cardiff Blues 2009/10

May 11, 2010 by srtrc in Wales

Our Wales campaign held their second club event this season in the Cardiff City Stadium this time round with the Cardiff Blues.

Around 140 children attended the club event from the Vale of Glamorgan who had the chance to meet rugby players from the Blues Magners League team and ask questions about Racism in Rugby and in Society.

Rhws Primary School attended a workshop at the ground before the event which was delivered by Campaign Education Co-ordinator Simon Richards and Education worker / ex professional footballer Christian Roberts.

The children participated in activities exploring Racism and stereotypes in a fun and interactive way.

School children from Evenlode Primary, Gladstone Primary School and St.Josephs R.C joined in the afternoon for the main event.

Blues players Tom Shanklin and Gary Powell attended to represent the club.

The children watched the Campaigns DVD and had the opportunity to ask questions about Racism to the players.

The best asked questions by the pupils received match tickets and the overall best asked question received family hospitality tickets from the players along with a SRtRC goodie bag which included a mini rugby ball.

The second event of the year at the stadium was successful with each pupils having a signed Blues poster and a SRtRC magazine.
