Following an extremely successful launch of the SRtRC England World Cup poster at Wembley last week the next 2018 bid city to visit was Bristol. Bristol City FC were the hosts for the day and taking part were 130 local school pupils.
The afternoon began with the young people getting a chance to meet and get the autographs of two Bristol City players. Despite having a reserves match that afternoon top Bristol City goal scorer Nicky Maynard and defender Liam Fontaine both stopped by to give their support to the campaign.
Former Bristol City player and SRtRC worker, Leroy Rosenior, led an interactive educational workshop which was enjoyed by pupils and teachers alike, the SRtRC DVD was screened and then the young people got the chance to ask their questions on racism. On the panel taking questions were Leroy Rosenior, ex-Bristol City player and now SRtRC coach, Christian Roberts and Tom Scott a member of the Bristol 2018 team.
There were some fantastic questions but only three could win prizes of SRtRC t-shirts, bags and balls signed by Nicky Maynard and Liam Fontaine. All who attended received signed Bristol City posters and of course a copy of the England World Cup poster.
Many thanks to Bristol City FC for hosting the event and thanks also to Bristol City Council and the Bristol 2018 team for all their support.
