Newport Gwent Dragons event
Our Wales campaign held their first ever event with the Newport Gwent Dragons at Rodney Parade.
Around 100 children attended the club event from Newport to have a exclusive first opportunity to meet rugby players from the Dragons Magners League team and ask questions about Racism in Rugby and in Society.
Pillgwenlly Primary school and Eveswell Primary attended a workshop at the ground before the event which was delivered by Campaign Education worker and ex professional footballer Leroy Rosenior.
The children participated in activities exploring Racism and the experiences and connotations of racist actions.
Both schools were luck enough to have a stadium tour at Rodney parade prior to the main event.
School children from Glan Usk Primary, Ysgol Gymraeg Casnewydd, Gaer Juniors and Maindee Primary joined in the afternoon for the main event.
Newport Gwent Dragons players Duane Goodfield, Gethin Robinson, Ali McKenzie and Nigel Hall attended to represent the club.
The children watched the Campaigns DVD and had the opportunity to ask questions about Racism to the players.
The best asked questions by the pupils received a signed ball from the players and the opportunity to meet the whole Dragons squad and be a mascot at an up coming game.
The first event at the Dragons was a big success with each pupils having a signed Newport Dragons poster and a SRtRC magazine.
