The new Scarlets stadium Parc Y Scarlets was the venue for our event in the Quinell suite that saw the launch of our first ever anti-racism poster with the club.
During the day, a celebration of multiculturalism saw an Intercultural Dialogue Conference and activities taking place including African drumming, Flag painting and Indian dance with children from Brynaman School performing arranged by Carmarthenshire Council and partners.
Our event took place during the day and was attended by 5 first team players from the club.
Wales Co-ordinator Sunil Patel was joined by players Morgan Stoggard, Simon Maling, Robert McCusker, Gavin Evans and Lou Reed, also on the panel was Kay Hughes from Mayreau, an organisation that that works to raise awareness and understanding of BME communities in West Wales.
School children from Brynteg Primary and Strade Comprehensive were in attendance for the event and came prepared with a good number of questions for the panel, a Welsh interpreter was also on hand to translate the proceedings bi-lingualy.
The new Show Racism the Red Card film was shown and a Question and Answer session followed, the schools came prepared with great questions being asked for the panel. The players talked about their experiences of racism giving an example of when playing outside of Wales receiving racism for being Welsh, they encouraged the youngsters to report racism if they came across it and to support anyone who was a victim.
The best question was picked by the players and the winner received match tickets for an upcoming game.
